Late on Sunday, Tesla Inc. lowered the prices of its Model S and Model X cars in the US in an effort to increase sales in the last month of the first quarter.
Tesla's website reports a $5,000 cut in the price of the Model S sedan, with the entry-level model now costing $89,990, down from $94,990 previously, and the high-performance Plaid model starting at $109,990, down from $114,990 previously.
Tesla decreased the cost of its Model 3 and Model Y automobiles in January. This step could succeed in expanding sales and its market share, according to Piper Sandler analysts, despite some Wall Street worries about waning demand and declining profits.
Tesla hosted its annual investor day last week, and executives there declared that the manufacturer of electric vehicles was committed to lowering both production costs and consumer prices. "There is an awesome amount of interest in purchasing a Tesla. Their ability to purchase a Tesla is the limiting constraint, according to Chief Executive Elon Musk, who was quoted in a FactSet transcript.
Despite a 60% increase year to date, Tesla stock is still down approximately 30% year to date compared to the S&P 500's 5% rise in 2023 and 6.5% decrease year to date.
